Perhaps the greatest challenge with the Goldback is that it hasn’t been possible to make enough of them to meet demand. This issue was exemplified by a recent conversation. I was on the phone yesterday with a gentleman sponsoring a new State (we’ll announce it later) and he was telling me about the purchasing experience with nearly all of the different retailers. I asked him, “Why are you using so many different retailers to get Goldbacks?” to which he replied “Oh, I purchase Goldbacks all the time, it's normal for a bunch of the retailers to be sold out so I just go to whoever has any.”
I’ve mentioned in previous articles that we’ve had to pull all formal advertising long ago. It doesn’t seem to matter much. Goldbacks have captured people’s imaginations and they will tell each other about them. Shoot, for $4 you can just give someone a piece of gold and that’s exactly what this gentleman had been doing. According to him he has given away over eight hundred Goldbacks as tips and gifts over the past year and he isn’t the only person doing this. Many of the recipients end up purchasing Goldbacks themselves.
How do we slow down sales until production can adequately keep up? In many respects it is a wonderful problem to have, but a problem nonetheless. Our solution has been to just be quiet and to stop producing content. We have even gone as far as to ask influencers and media outlets to not discuss Goldbacks yet when they reach out to us. Goldback Inc. hasn’t made much in terms of new content for almost a year. Our online media presence is quiet. Why promote what is already selling out?
When the new production facility hits in August we will need to move from being quiet to being slightly (but not too much) more vocal. You can expect to hear more about Goldbacks as they become more available. As part of this effort we are starting to add content to our Youtube, Facebook, and Instagram pages. We’re also exploring other new social media platforms. If you happen to use these platforms then be sure to follow our pages. These can also now be accessed through clicking the links on the bottom of Goldback.com.
