<image:title>News - The New Hampshire Series is out! Wyoming is next!</image:title>
<image:caption>New Hampshire’s 5 Goldback design is the second time that Veritas, or Truth, makes an appearance. She is depicted here wearing a colonial dress, offering the light of a candle, and walking along a path that leads to a covered bridge over a foggy river. She symbolizes the light of truth and offers that light to others, beckoning them to come toward her and follow the path that leads them safely through the fog of obscurity and confusion that is their demise without her light. The covered bridge is patterned after one that can be found along the Kancamagus Highway, though similar covered bridges can be found all around the state. On Truth’s left is a purple lilac bush, the state flower, and on her right is a purple finch, the state bird, and below her is the caption “Walk in Truth”. To the side of the path is a guardrail, representing how truth protects us and that if we hold fast to it, it will lead us along the path. In the background the viewer can see a moose, which are well known for their massive presence, territorial nature, poor eyesight, and excellent hearing and smell, which here represents steadfastly standing for and protecting truth and using many senses to identify it, even when it is hard to see.</image:caption>

<image:title>News - The New Hampshire Series is out! Wyoming is next!</image:title>
<image:caption>In her first appearance on a Goldback series, Gratia, or Grace, is featured on the New Hampshire 1 Goldback Denomination. She is depicted as an Abanaki Native American woman from the Algonquin tribes, who have history in the area. She is wearing a traditional dress and beads in front of an Abenaki wigwam. She is accompanied by a river otter, representing resourcefulness and finding joy in the moment with both attributes being key parts of grace and leading a balanced life. Also present in the symbolism of this design are many elements of Jewish and Christian cultures. This design particularly indicates the Jewish Festival/Feast of Trumpets, Rosh Hashanah, being celebrated alongside the Thanksgiving Holiday. Elements of these celebrations include: the Shofar trumpet next to the wigwam door, the pumpkin, corn, beans, chestnuts, and honeycomb represented by the beehive in the tree. Gratia can be seen gathering chestnuts and pondering, with the caption below reading “Give Thanks”. This is to acknowledge that the bounties that we are provided with must be worked for to be gathered in, but that we should also be thankful for them. Additionally, the chestnuts remain uncracked, more deeply symbolizing the work needing to be done by the founding fathers of the United States of America in order to bring about the nation where we could enjoy the freedoms that we do. One of the reasons that Thanksgiving Day is represented in the New Hampshire series here is because of Sarah Joseph, a native resident of New Hampshire, who was key in bringing Thanksgiving Day about as a national holiday. In the background are elements nodding to, and representing, the many ancient artifacts and “American Stonehenge” that can both be found in New Hampshire and indicate the rich cultural heritage of the area that predates more modern colonization.</image:caption>

<image:title>News - The New Hampshire Series is out! Wyoming is next!</image:title>
<image:caption>Fortitudine, or Fortitude, makes her second appearance in a Goldback series in New Hampshire’s 25 Goldback Denomination design. She is clothed in a military coat of a minute-man, and is wearing a dress that includes the vertical red and white stripes that were used by the early rebel colonists, which were ultimately included horizontally in the United States flag. She is leaning a musket over one shoulder and has a powder horn in the opposite hand, both understood as being captured from Fort William and Mary as illustrated in the 10 Goldback Design. Next to her stands a miniature depiction of New Hampshire’s famous granite monument featuring the state’s motto: “Live Free or Die”, and the caption beneath her reads “Take Courage”. At her feet are a mother and baby porcupines, representing the emotion of being loving and calm, but having the quills to stand your ground and protect your own when necessary. Behind Fortitudine is a maple tree in early spring with a tap and bucket, representing the fortitude of the tree through the winter, whose pulsing sap, as the temperatures warm, brings life back to the tree itself and energy and joy to those who count on it. Also in the background the viewer can see a depiction of Mount Washington and the historic Mount Washington Hotel. These features nod heavily to the underlying reasons that “The Granite State” is such a fitting title for the state of New Hampshire and captures those elements.</image:caption>

<image:title>News - The New Hampshire Series is out! Wyoming is next!</image:title>
<image:caption>Prospicientia, or Foresight, makes her debut on the New Hampshire 10 Goldback Denomination design. She is found sitting atop a cannon on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean with Fort Constitution (formerly Fort William and Mary) across the bay. This setting is historically important as it depicts the moments after New Hampshire’s Sons of Liberty took control of the fort. In response to an earlier but less famous ride of Paul Revere where he warned that General Thomas Gage was coming down the coast and would arrive in a few days to take possession of the supplies at Fort William and Mary, the people of New Hampshire had to do some quick thinking. They knew that it would be a race for the supplies. If the British forces reinforced the fort and took possession of those supplies then it would give them even more advantage in the days to come. The Patriots of New Hampshire wanted to stop that, and maybe turn the situation and supplies to their advantage in the process. Demonstrating their foresight in a powerful way, they quickly organized and mobilized hundreds of men from the Portsmouth area, gathered more men along the way, and raced down to the fort where they overran the 6 men posted there. Once they had stormed the walls of the fort, despite facing down 3 active cannons and the musket fire of the half dozen men protecting it, they then took down the British flag, raided the fort of around 100 barrels of gunpowder, and a large number of supplies including muskets, ammunition and 16 cannons! They were able to do all this with less than a day’s notice from Revere and were done several days before General Gage even arrived, where he found the fort empty. This event is arguably one of the first battles of the Revolutionary War, and it is an excellent example of foresight in action. The supplies captured here would be a boon to the war effort and would later be used in many of the subsequent battles. Prospicientia is depicted with a calm, yet triumphant attitude, because there is peace in being prepared and having foresight to do what is needed before the conflict arises. The caption below her reads “Look Forward.” Present in the design are also the humpback whale, the USS Raleigh, as one of the original ships from the Continental Navy, and a variant of the “An Appeal to God” flag that was first flown on George Washington’s naval ships.</image:caption>

<image:title>News - The New Hampshire Series is out! Wyoming is next!</image:title>
<image:caption>Libertas, or Liberty, makes her capstone appearance again in the New Hampshire 50 Goldback Denomination Design. Here she stands in White Mountain National Forest and is shown with the three elements of New Hampshire’s original seal, namely the bundle of five arrows she is holding, the fish that are embroidered on her dress, and the eastern white pine tree both behind her and at her feet. The bundle of arrows represents the five original counties of New Hampshire, the fish represents the main source of commerce for the colony at the time, and the white pine tree was elemental in the colony’s exports to be used as ship’s masts. Also embroidered on the hem of her dress is the motto: “Vis Unitas Fortior”, the same that appears on the original seal, meaning “A United Force is Stronger”, or “We are Stronger Together”. Libertas is also shown here wearing a medallion on a ribbon with Liberty’s traditional symbol of a torch as well as a necklace with a laurel wreath and stars, nodding to these elements from the New Hampshire state seal. Below her reads the caption “Stand Fast in Liberty” and behind her the state’s animal is highlighted with a family of whitetail deer, symbolizing unity, and particularly unity in the family, where the principles of Liberty are taught and passed on to the next generation. Without these principles being passed on, the price of gaining Liberty will be forgotten and must be paid to get her back again. In Liberty's left hand is a pine switch, she is standing on a fallen pine with King George’s mark carved into it, and a broken axe is at her feet. These three elements are indicative of the events that surrounded what are known as the “Pine Tree” or “Mast Tree” Riots of 1732 - 1734, which in many ways could be called the first acts of the Colonial Rebellion. During these events, New Hampshire residents pushed back against the British actions which both appropriated the area’s Eastern White Pines for ship masts and prohibited the cutting down of any trees with a diameter greater than 12 inches. Disgruntled residents formed a rebellion and, in a manner more aggressive than was present at the Boston Tea Party, attacked the British sheriff and his deputies who were making arrests and enforcing the King’s edict, gave the sheriff a lashing with a pine switch for each tree that was being contested at the time, cut the manes and tails off of their horses, and ran them out of town. For this and other reasons, many of the first flags flown by the Rebellion depicted a White Pine on a field of white in some fashion. One of the earliest ones used by George Washington on his naval ships is raised here by Libertas on her pine switch and reads the traditional caption: “An Appeal to God”.</image:caption>

<image:title>Utah Gallery - 1 - Prudentiae (Prudence)</image:title>
<image:caption>The Utah Goldback Series begins with the 1 Goldback Design, and it is loaded with different symbols and cultural nods. The virtue Prudentiae, or Prudence, is featured here as a Native American woman, having many items and attributes traditionally attributed to coming from each of the five most prominent Native American tribes in Utah, namely: the Ute, Paiute, Goshute, Shoshone, and the Navajo. Prudence is seated on a sandstone rock next to an ancient bristlecone pine tree (one of the longest lived trees in the world), nodding to the throne that Prudence is traditionally seated upon, an elevated status as a virtue from which many virtues claim their origin, and the wisdom learned through the ages. She is gazing into a mirror held in one hand, symbolizing perspective, learning from experience and using hindsight. On her other wrist is a copper bracelet in the form of a snake, representing the struggle of trials as well as using wisdom to make choices. At her feet is a chipmunk, suggesting the preparations that they make each year ahead of winter as a symbol of prudence through preparedness. The wolf is next to her, calling out to all who listen to use prudence, and how the use of gold is a keystone to an economy, just how the wolves of yellowstone are keystone predators, and the removal of either has shown a deterioration of their surroundings. The footing: “Deal Prudently” can also be found in the bottom right corner of the artwork. Finally, in the background Bryce Canyon National Park’s Natural Bridge formation is shown with Canada geese flying in formation.</image:caption>

<image:title>Utah Gallery - 5 - Veritas (Truth)</image:title>
<image:caption>Veritas, or Truth, is shown on the 5 Utah Goldback Design. She is depicted as a Utah pioneer, nodding to the great migration that the first settlers of Utah took part in to arrive in the Salt Lake Valley in 1847. With windblown hair, she holds a lantern high with her right hand, casting light out at the viewer to represent the light of truth that she bears, and that truth sheds light on the uncertainty that a person may have as they journey through life. She is accompanied by the footing: “Walk in Truth”. In the pocket of her apron is a compass, representing making truth our moral compass, and you can see that it is actually pointing West, again, nodding to the western migration of the Utah settlers. In her left hand she holds two books representing written truth. In this version, the books bear the titles “Judah” (for the Bible) and “Joseph” (for the Book of Mormon), referring to the role the two books of scripture had in providing direction as accepted truths for the Utah Pioneers. The faith that they had in God and his word in these books eventually drove them to seek religious freedom in Utah. Veritas is standing near a pool and a waterfall feeds into it in the background. These represent how we need truth just as much as we need fresh water. A deer, representing a messenger of truth, stands at the base of a massive cottonwood tree and is drinking from the pool of truth. The Roman symbol of the fish as associated with truth is also depicted in the stream that is flowing from the pool. An eagle flies in the dusky sky above her, watching over truth and nods to how the freedoms promised in the United States allow for truth to flourish. The North Star can be seen shining proudly in the cloudy sky, symbol of how truth is always shining, even if obscured by proverbial clouds. Finally, Veritas is depicted barefoot in this design, referencing how sometimes following truth leads us to walk hard roads, but the level of difficulty doesn’t change the reality of the truth that we follow, and often makes our arrival at the destination that truth leads us to all the more sweet.</image:caption>

<image:title>Utah Gallery - 10 - Justitia (Justice)</image:title>
<image:caption>Justitia, or Justice, is the virtue that appears on Utah’s 10 Goldback Design. She is cast in the southern region of Utah, with Balancing Rock and the iconic red cliffs in the background. She is depicted wearing the period settler’s sunday best attire, supposedly a few years after Utah was settled. She is equipped traditionally with a blindfold over her eyes and a two edged sword and scales in her hands, representing the responsibilities of impartiality, fairness, and decisiveness that Justice must use to be right and effective. Below her is the footing: “Judge Righteously”. You will further note a cross, heart, and anchor on the balances that she carries, nodding to the role of faith, hope, and charity in justice as well in order to allow for mercy. A seagull, the state bird of Utah, flies through the air with a cricket in its mouth ahead of a huge desert storm in the background. These each nod to two of the miraculous happenings that the Utah settlers experienced in the early years of settling the area. First, when the gulls came and ate crickets that were swarming and eating the crops that the settlers desperately needed, and another instance in the southern Utah desert where a huge desert rainstorm brought the end to a long drought that had been raging across the state after the settlers joined in a united effort of fasting and prayer to be preserved by God. Both of these symbols nod to the positive side of justice, one of the two sword edges, blessings are as large a part of divine justice as punishment is on the sword’s other edge, though we tend to focus on the latter. In the brush at her feet is a sage hen with twelve chicks, also representing the protection and mercy that justice can bring, referencing the biblical gospels in the imagery.</image:caption>

<image:title>Utah Gallery - 25 - Victoria (Victory)</image:title>
<image:caption>The 25 Goldback Design depicts the Lady Virtue Victoria, or Victory, primarily in celebration of Women’s rights to vote. This is actually the first Goldback design to ever have been done. It was the artist’s audition piece for the series. Victory bears a banner that states “Votes Counting Since 1870”, nodding to the fact that when Utah became a state, women were already voting by that time. The first state to have a woman actually cast a vote in it was Utah (Seraph Young was the voter), though as a state, Wyoming granted women’s suffrage a few months prior to that. This Goldback design was created by keeping many of the firsts in mind that women in Utah have done, such as women teaching over the pulpit and Martha Hughes Cannon becoming the first woman State Senator in 1911. Victoria is accompanied by a child in the artwork, representative of how many of the women marched for suffrage with their children, and how teaching children truth has been a major driving force for the women of Utah. The child carries a branch representing how our children are the future, and ultimately are responsible tomorrow for the stewardship of any victories that we win today. This design urges the viewer to “Go on to Victory”. The backdrop of this design is actually the mountainscape in Alpine, Utah, viewable through the window of the building where these designs were done. The flag that Victory carries in her left hand is topped by the Chi-Rao Greek symbol for Christ, nodding to the help that the women of Utah credited to him at that time for their attaining the many freedoms that they earned. In her right hand she holds bundled wheat, representative of small victories gathered together in a powerful, significant whole. Behind her a falcon is soaring, representing faithful actions, and the hope to return to the things that we love. We should return and review the actions through history that brought us the victories that we now enjoy. Victory stands along a straight path bordered by a stone wall on one side, representing building good things one small victory at a time; and aspen trees on the other side, representing the interconnectedness of humankind and common heritage, especially through the women who bore each child of the human family.</image:caption>

<image:title>Utah Gallery - 50 - Liberty (Libertas)</image:title>
<image:caption>The Utah series culminates its timeline in the Lady Virtue Libertas, or Liberty, depicted as a perfected, angelic woman, having reached a fullness of blessings through the proper employment of Liberty in life. This design is rich with symbols, including the torch in her right hand symbolizing enlightenment, an overflowing cup in her left to represent the blood of Christ and its connection to the divinely given liberty. Liberty is also depicted with a sheathed sword and a shield resting next to her. Both symbolize that the free must always be ready to fight to defend and preserve the liberty they enjoy, but also that one must be willing to fight to gain a fullness of freedom in the first place. The shield bears the year 1847 (the year the Utah territory was settled) and the name “Deseret”, the original name of the Utah territory, appears there. Deseret is understood to mean a honey bee, a nest of which appears on the shield in like manner to the Utah flag, and nods to the hard work needed to protect Liberty. Libertas is flanked by a mountain lion on one side and a lamb on the other, symbolizing peace realized through liberty using the biblical depiction from Isaiah 11:6 of the lion laying down with the lamb. Liberty is featured in the mountain ranges of the Rocky Mountains, surrounded by the Utah state tree, the blue spruce; the state flower, the sego lily; and Bear Lake, the “Caribbean of the Rockies”, in the background. Behind her the sun is rising, representing enlightenment and divine blessings, and is representing that those things are a gateway to perfection. At her feet we are admonished to “Stand Fast in Liberty”.</image:caption>

<image:title>New Hampshire Gallery - 1 Goldback Denomination; New Hampshire Design - Gratia</image:title>

<image:title>New Hampshire Gallery - 5 Goldback Denomination; New Hampshire Design - Veritas</image:title>

<image:title>New Hampshire Gallery - 10 Goldback Denomination; New Hampshire Design - Prospicientia</image:title>

<image:title>New Hampshire Gallery - 25 Goldback Denomination; New Hampshire Design - Fortitudine</image:title>

<image:title>New Hampshire Gallery - 50 Goldback Denomination; New Hampshire Design - Libertas</image:title>
Embroidered on the hem of her dress is the motto: “Vis Unitas Fortior”, the same that appears on the original seal, meaning “A United Force is Stronger”, or “We are Stronger Together”.

<image:caption>Caritas, or Charity, is the Virtue beautifully featured on Nevada’s 1 Goldback Denomination. This is her first appearance on a Goldback Design, and is notably patterned after a depiction of Mary, the mother of Jesus, in St. Augustine’s Catholic Church in Austin, Nevada. Catholicism is Nevada’s most dominant religion and St. Augustine’s is the oldest Catholic Church building in the state. Like all Goldback designs, the art contains many levels of symbolism. Some major symbols of Charity featured include: the Sierra Nevada Lily, which is in the container below Mary’s feet to the right; the Mary Magdalene Rose, in the container on the left; cherubs crowning Mary and Burning Hearts to either side of her; Charity’s lit candle in her hand, and Nevada’s sun, rising over the mountains seen through the window behind her. The window, the candlestick in the right corner of the window sill and the columns on each side of the design, are each inspired from St. Mary of the Mountains Catholic Cathedral in Virginia City, (now, Saint Mary in the Mountains Catholic Church & Museum), which was also an inspiration for this artwork. The window below Mary’s dress hides the word “Love”, the symbol of a square, a compass, a wagon wheel, and rosary beads. The viewer will also note the ash tree, symbolizing marriage and Las Vegas’s status as the marriage capital of the world; and a family of ring-necked pheasants, which showcase the selfless acts of nurture and protecting their family and young.</image:caption>

<image:title>Nevada Gallery - 5 Goldback Denomination; Nevada Design - Sophia</image:title>
<image:caption>Another Virtue’s debut appearance is found on Nevada’s 5 Goldback Denomination. The Virtue Sophia, or Wisdom, makes her first appearance here as Athena. Sophia represents divine inspiration and progress, and is found surrounded by numerous Nevada specific symbols, inventions, technologies, and bastions of wisdom. These include: several libraries and university buildings from the University of Las Vegas and the University of Nevada, the quartz mill from the State Seal, an antique Hoover Dam hard helmet, various books and scrolls, a wagon wheel, pen and ink, some books by Samuel Clemens (Mark Twain), a silver mine car, the State’s No. 40 Locomotive, and many others. Particularly of note is an open scroll depicting words from the 15th Amendment, significant because Nevada was the first state to adopt it, allowing equal rights to vote in the state, regardless of skin color. Sophia is clothed in battle gear with her traditional raised helm, arm guards, and breastplate, and is armed with her shield and spear. The viewer will also find the traditional symbol of Wisdom’s owl shown on the gorget worn around her neck. Additionally, she is shown holding a pick axe, representative of the mining that was so influential in the development of the State. Each Nevada Goldback Design contains a pillar, and Sophia can be found standing atop an open book supported by this design’s pillar bearing the motto of the Great Seal of Nevada, “All for Our Country”. Also present are Nevada’s Mountain Bluebird, and the White Pine, nodding to mountainous and rural White Pine County along the central, eastern boundary of the State.</image:caption>

<image:title>Nevada Gallery - 10 Goldback Denomination; Nevada Design - Justitia</image:title>
<image:caption>Justitia, or Justice, makes her second appearance as a Virtue on Nevada’s 10 Goldback Design. Notably, she is not blindfolded, but rather wears a veil that is pulled back from her face. Here, she is patterned after the statue of Justice as she appears on the Virginia City, Nevada, Storey County Courthouse. At the time of her construction there, the Justices of the Peace in Nevada, watching over the Wild West, wanted those who broke the law to know that Justice sees all and depicted her with eyes wide open! The pillar to Justitia’s right is also the artist’s rendition of the pillars on this same structure. Wild horses can be seen running in the distance. In the background below the mountain range is Nevada’s unique Pyramid Lake, located in southeastern Washoe County. It is in an elongated intermontane basin nestled between the Lake Range on the East, the Virginia Mountains on the West, the Pah Rah Range on the Southwest and the Fox Range and Smoke Creek Desert to its North. The word “Battleborn” is engraved on the pillar upon which Justice stands, invoking the language from the State Flag and Nevada’s status as a Civil War-born State. Below that is the symbol of a badger next to some native mesquite trees. The viewer will also note a six shooter and 30-30 rifle next to a wine barrel stamped with the symbolic brand of “Cup Bearer Wine, Cana Dry Red” in the foreground (specifically significant to the larger artwork), and Sandhill Cranes in the background.</image:caption>

<image:title>Nevada Gallery - 25 Goldback Denomination; Nevada Design - Fortitudine</image:title>
<image:caption>Fortitudine, or Fortitude, is the third, and final new virtue that debuts in the Nevada Goldback Series. She is patterned after Nike, the greek winged goddess of Victory. A driving theme for this piece is “Fortitude brings Victory over Vice”, as can be seen illustrated with the bobcat pouncing on a “land crocodile”, the tortoise. Fortitudine is patterned after the trumpeting angels found along the walls of Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas, and is understood to be sounding the first trumpet of Triumph. On her head is the laurel wreath, a symbol of glory, and in her left hand, a palm leaf symbolizes triumph. A notable feature of this design is the symbol of pillars rising up out of the desert that is in a rare “super bloom”, symbolizing Fortitude’s role and success in holding Nevada and her people together in the past, present and future. Also present are barrel cactus, the sagebrush in bloom as it is on Nevada’s State Flag, a joshua tree in bloom, and other hidden symbols. All of this is backdropped by the beautiful Red Rock Canyon near Las Vegas.</image:caption>

<image:title>Nevada Gallery - 50 Goldback Denomination; Nevada Design - Libertas</image:title>
<image:caption>Libertas, or Liberty, the capstone Virtue design of each U.S. based Goldback series, makes her second appearance here under a starry Nevada night sky. Here, in the peaks of the Sierra Nevadas, she is depicted as biblical Eve, mother of the human race, patterned somewhat after a statue of Aphrodite from Ceasar’s Palace, Las Vegas. She is championed here by the artist as a symbol of the biblical story about a free woman who exercised her agency and power of choice to bring about the human race. In her left hand she holds high a pomegranate fruit, symbolizing all of humankind, and in her right hand she is holding a vertical rod, a symbol of royalty that also nods to the vertical mining technique that helped Nevada to become an outstanding precious metals producer. She is featured standing on a stone pedestal which bears a seashell, often found in connection to depictions of Aphrodite, and at her feet is a basket of pomegranates. Next to her is a biblical depiction of a rock altar with a fire burning on it, which points toward a common biblical practice done to demonstrate thanks to the Divine for the blessings of freedom. To Liberty’s right is a small pillar, which balances a world globe, with which Liberty champions her cause to the world. Nevada’s Desert Bighorn Sheep can be found both behind and before as symbols of both steadfastness and mobility in their freedom in the highest places of Nevada’s mountains. Also present is the Bristlecone Pine, one of the longest living trees on Earth, symbolizing the eternal nature of Liberty as a crowning Virtue.</image:caption>

<image:caption>This is a draft of what the reverse side of the ‘one’ Goldback denomination was going to look like. Emily had even finished drawing the three separate images that would be merged together. Had we added a reverse image to the one denomination, then they would’ve taken significantly longer to print which ended up being important later.</image:caption>

<image:title>History</image:title>
<image:caption>The Goldback wallet was important in our minds because the first thing that someone with a Goldback would want to do is to put them somewhere they can carry them like a wallet. Most women’s wallets will do the job, however, billfolds that are typically used by men will eventually wear creases into the Goldbacks. The Goldback wallet solves this problem and was designed to be able to fit in your pocket. It also displays all of the denominations when opened and has several other slots for cards or other currencies. Jeff McClellan did an excellent job designing these things. Over 1,500 wallets have been sold to date.</image:caption>

<image:title>History</image:title>
<image:caption>We had Emily draw a draft of what all of the Goldbacks would look like if they were stacked on top of each other. For about a week, the office was covered in paper cut-outs of different potential sizes for the different denominations. Every 1/8th of an inch taller the ‘one’ denomination grew was a big ask for Valaurum as it increased their printing costs. Note that the ‘twenty-five’ appears for the first time here, and that this is the last draft that the name ‘Quint’ ever appears. I think that Quint was written by mistake.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Quint is a cryptocurrency that we had been working on at the time. The initial thought was to make a non-crypto version of it. That idea ultimately didn’t bear out because the Quint is based on U.S minted coin. <image:caption>The Brefine note was a complex, one-time project for Ireland that failed. NAMX produced the gold notes as part of a crypto-currency project for Quintric. Each note represented 1/40th of an ounce of gold but only 20% of the total gold content, or 1/200th of an ounce was actually in the bill. The rest was on a crypto ledger. Only about 400 of these survive today as the rest were melted down.</image:caption>

I highly recommend the book if you are going to name anything. They didn’t even pay me to say that. We ended up putting dozens of names through the filter. This image was taken in late April or early May. In hindsight, the only other name that probably wouldn’t have immediately failed is probably “Gold Virtues.” Even that name is a very distant second to the Goldback though. We were blessed to be able to get the website and trademark for it.</image:caption>

The latin name for Prudence was used as well. “In God We Trust” was removed, and a slot Canyon background was added. Note that on the top of the back of the image we were going to feature native cliff dwellings that can be found in the remote regions of Utah and Colorado. Prudence also gained her mirror. Some of the men at the signing include; Gov Herbert, Larry Hilton, Attorney General Sean Reyes, and Rep. Ken Ivory. The Demos were the wrong size (almost the size of the 50) and had 1/10th of a gram of gold in them vs the 1/1000th of an ounce. <image:caption>You aren’t doing much good in supporting sound money if you don’t actually try and use it. Once you’ve spent your Goldbacks then you can take the cash that you saved from doing so to resupply. By doing this you infuse your local economy with sound money while educating local vendors. You should expect to have anywhere from a third to half of small businesses actually take Goldbacks as payment. You may be surprised at how many people are okay being paid in gold.</image:caption>
